I have been having loads of fun with the Flower Cart ( I sooo love my Cricut ). Making the decorations for my sister's reception is a load of work and the best thing in the world! I wish it was my full time job, crafting and being creative is AWSOME!!!
Well, my sister is on a tight budget, who isn't these days? I am the biggest coupon FREAK!!! and so I am helping her in the only way possible - crafting! I made these wreaths for the tables with twigs from the yard! The flowers are paper, and the greenery came from two vines on a major sale with a bonus coupon! Woohooo! So we got ten tables decorated for about $20.00!
There are doves and tea lights, paper place mats and purple tinted water for the wine glasses. The tables are covered in fabric from my stash and all the paper was stamped and airbrushed. Coupons made the paper packs $2.50 or less! It was so fun, I also made 50 mini flowers for the napkin rings! Lots more left to do, I post more later. Take care.

Cards For Soldiers !
Just some Christmas cards to post for now. I really had fun making these. They are simple, the Cricut "plaid" card background was used on a white pre cut card. The card front was airbrushed to a contrasting color then Mod Podge was applied to the front. The Mod Podge acted as the glue for the plaid paper piece and gave the card the "glossy" coat; without it, the airbrushing feels gritty. Wreath cutouts came from a single sheet of paper, unfortunately I cannot find the label for the paper pack, I used it for chipboard! The word Noel was cut out of chipboard and then embossed with the Recollections powder, it seemed to be the best one for me. It did not rub off and burned the least, in addition I could use a coupon at Micheals- under $3.00! WhooHoo!!! The holly leaves came from Joys of the Seasons I think?
I had much fun using Cricut Craft Room this go round and so the cuts are saved if you need them sent to you. I was so proud of me! No Gypsy this time! Oh, yes I almost forgot, I ended up cutting out circles and gluing them down for the holly berries. The Pearl Drops stood out better this way. The cards were then embelished with red Pearl Drops and a gold Pearl Pen. I used the gold Copic glitter pens and a brown stamp pad to enhance the leaves; Mod Podge then sealed in the glitter ( just in case ). Gold Pearl Pen further enhanced the leaves. This is fun and the cards go to a great cause, I cannot wait to make more, gotta think of something else!!

Invitations
Yes it has been a loooooong time since I have been on here posting any crafts. Bet you think I have been laaazy, NOT so. Well I have been busy with needlework and some paper crafts. So here is a really neat idea for use of the Pagoda Cricut Cartridge. The card stock is cut to 5.5 x 8.5 (halved) and then a second sheet is cut to 4.5 x 7.5 and embossed. I used the Gypsy to cut the screen at 4.25 x 7.25 and flowers at 6.11w x 3.84h, the flowered stem was cut at 2.17 x 3.84, and the Fancy Frame was used to cut the easel (4.25). The date and all the information remains hidden inside on a bookmark which is easily pulled out by the ribbon.
The screen was carefully folded and glued to provide a three dimensional look. the flowers were colored in with Copic markers and enhanced with pearl drops. I did go crazy with the stamp pads to get more color and texture to the paper as well. I found the best technique to glue the back was to cover the area I wanted to stay clean and paint over the rest with a sponge brush and quick dry glue. Those 20 for a dollar brushes really come in handy sometimes! Saturday, July 16, 2011
Backyard Escape
Backyard Escape
The topic was named by the page, Backyard Escape. My husband loves to fish and we have many fishing photos. This layout I love and made using Freshly Picked, Stand and Salute, Lacy Labels, and Plantain Schoolbook . The background is plain cardstock with a circle cut to fill the page; the circle has a look reminiscent of scales so I went with it. The grass is Plantain Schoolbook, cut at different heights in four sections. I glued the grass only at the base giving the page more dimension. The Cat Tails are from Freshly Picked, (I did not have Give a Hoot at the time which has the real image so I made this work) they are flocked in brown. I used Stand and Salute to make the clouds. Color and definition come from stamp pads! We all have them in many colors so I used them, taking some cotton swabs and dabbing them in the ink I went to town adding in extra color here and there. Then I added in the journaling tag from Lacy Labels. My husband is thrilled to show off his skills to everyone who comes by, and I get to show off my toys as well. The best benefit is my husband has a reason to buy me more toys! How cool is that?

Display Stand
For my very first blog post I have made a display project. I love to make beautiful scrapbook pages and just dislike covering them up in a book. Like every woman out there I want change in my decor, so I made a display stand for my scrapbook pages. When I make another page that screams SHOW ME OFF, then I will change that one out and thus change out my decor. Yeah for me!
So for the display stand I used the new cartridge Fancy Frames and Design Studio. The cuts were made on three pages with the height at 11.4 and the width at 14.056. I hid the contours on each of the lines for one side, saved them as a Gypsy file and then reopened as a DS file. Each piece was cut three times out of black chipboard and glued together to create a strong support piece. The easel will hold a store bought frame with a glass front! I now have many options for my display, or a nifty gift.
